MyDost

Guide & Local policy

Who can be a Local on MyDost Anyone can create a profile. Two separate checks unlock the ability to actually be booked: • KYC approval — required before you can offer paid hire (guide, driver, homestay host, trek porter, food/culture host, photographer) or a hangout. We check a government ID photo and a live selfie, captured in-app. • A guide license — in places where local law requires a licensed guide (Bhutan, Nepal trekking areas, some India protected areas), you'll also need to upload your license photo before any trek you list can be booked. Setting your price You set your own hire rate and hangout fee. A hangout is never free — it's a small fee you choose, separate from your (usually larger) hire rate. MyDost takes a commission (15% by default) on top of what the traveler pays, and the same percentage off what you receive — this funds safety features, verification, and the platform itself. Hangout rules Hangouts must happen in public places only, between 07:00 and 22:00, for at most 8 hours, and never overnight. Getting paid For paid hire, MyDost holds the traveler's payment until the booking is marked complete (or it auto-completes 48 hours after the service date if nobody raises a dispute). We then release your payout, minus our commission. Conduct Be honest in your profile and your listings. Show up when you've accepted a booking. Treat travelers with respect regardless of who they are. Keep communication on-platform until a booking is accepted or paid — this is both a safety measure and how we make sure the trust and safety systems (references, SOS, disputes) can actually help you if something goes wrong. We can remove a listing, suspend KYC approval, or ban an account that violates these rules, misrepresents a service, or receives credible reports of unsafe behavior.
