MyDost

Safety tips

Before you meet • Check trust badges on a profile — phone verified, ID verified, guide license verified, and how many references they have. • Read references from both travelers and locals before committing to a booking. • Agree on a public meeting place through MyDost chat, not somewhere private. During a hangout or tour • Hangouts are restricted to public places, 07:00–22:00, max 8 hours — if someone wants to change those terms, that's a signal to be cautious. • Use "Share my location" on an accepted booking to share your live position with the other person for the duration of your meetup — nobody else can see it, and it turns off automatically. • If something feels wrong, use the SOS button. It alerts MyDost's safety team with your emergency contact and who you're meeting, right away. • "Check in" lets you quickly confirm you're okay during a booking — a lightweight way to leave a timestamped record that everything's fine. A few honest limits MyDost's safety team is not a 24/7 monitored emergency service. If you're in immediate danger, call local emergency services first, then use SOS so we're aware too. MyDost never guides anyone itself — we connect you with independent local people. Verification (KYC, guide license, traveler verification) raises the bar for who can use the platform, but it isn't a guarantee. Use the same judgment you would meeting anyone new. After a booking Leave an honest reference — positive, neutral, or negative. References only become visible once both sides have written one (or automatically after 14 days), so you can write yours without it affecting what the other person writes first.
